Sidhartha Mallya, the only son of UB group chairman Vijay Mallya (from his first marriage) has recently been making it to page three of leading dailies, hitting the party circuit with his dad. Siddhartha Mallya, according to UB group sources, slated to take on a bigger role within the group after he completes his studies (he’s now in a school in Britain).

Like his father, Sidhartha Mallya (his half-sisters Leana and Tanya study in the US) may start at UB at the bottom. Vijay Mallya began as a trainee in the marketing department and found to his delight that it was something he enjoyed. Mallya once mentioned: “Marketing brought out the best in me.”

Mallya has been quoted as saying that he would like to see his son step into his shoes. He himself restructured the business his father created. So the stage is now set for Sidhartha to add more cheer to his dad’s liquor business.

Sidhartha Mallya is but one among dozens of children of India’s billionaires who are being prepared for a role in their parents’ business empires. If earlier they got to occupy the corner room only because they were part of the promoter’s family, today most have to work their way up. Some are even apprenticing with businesses outside their family domain.

Last year Siddhartha Mallya became 18 years old…..!!!!!
