Bolton sign Barnsley striker

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Barnsley striker Craig Davies for an undisclosed fee.



The Wales international joins The Trotters on a two-and-a-half-year deal, having moved to Barnsley in 2011 where he scored 20 goals in 64 appearances.



It is believed that Davies' contract involved a £300,000 release clause, enabling Bolton to talk with the striker.



Bolton boss Dougie Feedman said: "Craig is a player I am really fond of. I actually tried to sign him a couple of years ago and he will bring all the right ingredients to our club.



"He is hungry. He hasn't got the t-shirt of playing in the Premier League, but is desperate to get it. He's a good age and represents very good value for the football club.



"He is the type of player I want around the place."



The 27-year-old, who played for Manchester City's youth team, is set to make his debut this weekend against Millwall.

Coyle interested in Scotland job

Owen Coyle has indicated he would be open to an approach from the Scottish Football Association over the vacant national team manager's job.



Coyle is one of a number of potential candidates who have been linked with the role following the sacking of Craig Levein on November 5. He has been out of work since parting company with Bolton last month after almost three years at the Reebok Stadium.



Speaking at a Tesco Bank Football Challenge event in Glasgow on Thursday, he said: "There is no doubt that the Scotland job is a terrific job for the right candidate."



He continued: "If they (the SFA) felt that I was one of those candidates and they wanted to speak, then, of course, I'm quite happy to listen and see what people think - how they want to progress and what they think of yourself and what you can bring to that job.



"I've worked as hard as a manager as I did as a player and maximised everything I had. Whatever I enter into, I go in giving everything I've got.



"If people felt you were worth speaking to about their club or national job or whatever it is, then I would be flattered if that came to be."



Gordon Strachan remains the bookmakers' favourite to fill the role.



Coyle added: "What I would say, and I've got to give balance to it, is that I think Scotland are very fortunate that they do have many outstanding candidates capable, I think, of ultimately qualifying for major competitions."

Solskjaer not interested in Bolton vacancy

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant managerial role at Championship club Bolton Wanderers.



The former Manchester United striker, who is currently in charge of Norwegian champions Molde, has been repeatedly linked with the job at the Reebok Stadium following Owen Coyle's dismissal last week.



However, the 39-year-old says he has no plans to leave Molde before the end of the season, although there is just over a month to go.



"There will always be speculation when someone in England needs a new manager," he told Norwegian newspaper Romsdals Budstikke.



"There are surely 20 names who have been linked with Bolton now and it's natural that mine is among them. But it's not for me.



"Blackburn, Bolton, rumours crop up all the time. But I'm not that bothered about them.



"I'm absolutely certain I will see out the season here (with Molde), I can promise that."



Solskjaer had already turned down an approach from Aston Villa earlier this year after holding talks with the midlands club, while he has also been named as a potential successor to Steve Kean at Blackburn.

Muamba plays football again

Fabrice Muamba has revealed he played football again just two months after collapsing on the pitch.

The Bolton Wanderers player collapsed with a heart attack during an FA cup match in March against Tottenham.



Now he's revealed that he played football when he went on holiday to Dubai in May.



He said, "I was on holiday and I was staying in a hotel and there were quite a few footballers in the hotel as well.



"The staff usually play against the visitors so I was by the pool and I heard they were playing football.



"Then I went across and saw other footballers playing and I told my friends and Shauna - I told her 'I am sorry but I am going to play football.



"She goes 'are you sure?' and I say 'yes' and I just went in there.



"I just went in through the groove and played for about 20-25 minutes. It was just playing like normal, it was just playing like I was training. It was great, I enjoyed it."

Muamba receives honorary doctorate

Fabrice Muamba admits he is still "far away" from returning to the pitch but remains hopeful he will be able to resume his career with Bolton Wanderers.



The midfielder was at the town's Victoria Hall to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Bolton at its graduation ceremony.



Muamba was presented with the award to honour both him and the doctors who saved his life when he collapsed with a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur in March.



Muamba was rushed to the London Chest Hospital and doctors took 78 minutes to restart his heart, with his eventual recovery described as a miracle.



Speaking at the ceremony, Muamba said: "I'm getting stronger every day. I'm far away from being back on the football pitch.



"I really, really hope, by the grace of God, that I'll be back on the pitch but I'm just grateful to the university for this doctorate and I receive it on behalf of everybody who helped me to survive the cardiac arrest."



Muamba and his family fled war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, seeking asylum in the United Kingdom.



Despite arriving in London aged 11 unable to speak English, he went on to achieve 10 GCSEs and three A levels and joined Arsenal FC's youth academy in 2002 before moving to Birmingham and then Bolton in 2008.

Mills completes Bolton switch

There was a suggestion Mills could join initially on a season-long loan, but the centre-half has signed a three-year deal after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.



He is Wanderers' second close-season signing following the arrival of free agent Keith Andrews.



Bolton manager Owen Coyle said: "Matt is a player who has a high level of experience in the Championship.



"We are delighted to have made this acquisition as he adds strength and quality into the mix.



"He is 25 years old and has already captained teams at this level, so we know what he will bring to the squad, both on and off the pitch."

Keith Andrews joins Bolton

Bolton Wanderers have signed Republic of Ireland international Keith Andrews on a free transfer.



Andrews, 31, left Blackburn in January to sign a six-month contract with West Bromwich Albion but has now accepted a three-year deal with Championship side Bolton.



"We are pleased to have been able to bring in Keith early in the transfer window as there were a number of clubs interested in signing him," manager Owen Coyle told the club's official website.



"He is highly experienced both in domestic and international football and he will bring strength, competition and a goal-scoring threat to our midfield."
