Akshay Mehra has started the Village laundry services under “Chamak” Brand Name. The Company is just 1 year old. and has grown from 3 stores nine months ago to 20 stores now. The idea of the company is to change the way washing is done.

Akshay Mehra is a graduate from IIM-Calcutta. Mehra was brand manager with P&G, Singapore where he handled the Tide & Pantene Brands for India and Asian Country for 7 years.

Innosight Ventures & Calvert Investments decided to invest $ 1 Million in the Business. Today VLS (Village Laundry Services) offers affordable and high quality washing, drying and ironing services under the Chamak Brand.

Chamak booths measuring 6*6 ft use modern washing methods such as good quality detergents and high efficiency.

From 20 Stores currently, the plan is to expand to Mysore & Mumbai and go up to 100 locations by July 2010. Revenues are now 3 Lakhs a month and the target in the next 3 years is to be a $ 7 Million Company by Revenue…!!!!
