Thiago Silva out for at least 3 weeks

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian defender Thiago Silva will be out for at least three weeks after he injured a thigh during Friday's 0-0 draw with Ajaccio, the capital club said Monday.



"Today's scan confirmed the injury in the left femoral biceps. He will be out for at least three weeks," a club statement read.



The news is a blow for PSG, whose failure to take three points against a side just one point off the drop zone cost them top spot after Lyon moved two points clear with a 2-1 win at Troyes.



Silva now faces a race against the clock to get fit for their UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg against Valencia on February 11. French international Mamadou Sakho is set to deputise while Silva is out, partnering Brazilian Alex.

Silva explains PSG move

Paris St Germain centre half Thiago Silva says he did not join the Ligue 1 side for the money, but for the opportunity to win trophies.

The Brazilian left after three years at AC Milan as he and Zlatan Ibrahimovic left the Rossoneri to join the Parisians this summer.



It was thought that Silva would stay in Italy, as although he had been strongly linked with a move away from the San Siro, the club rejected an offer from PSG and the 27-year-old subsequently signed a new deal to remain at the Milan club until 2017.



However Carlo Ancelotti's side submitted a new offer which was accepted by the Serie A club and Silva completed a move to France.



"I said clearly that I wanted to stay up until the end of my contract," he told Gazetta dello Sport.



"There have been discussions between PSG and Milan, between Leonardo and Galliani. But the fans have mobilised and Berlusconi did not want to sell me, I then extended and I was delighted.



"Then things changed. Leonardo called me to tell me that negotiations had resumed, he wanted me, he was ready to make great efforts.



"I realised that Milan had economic difficulties and it would be very difficult to stay. I am not a mercenary. Milan, it was my home. On the other hand, they made a big deal. They bought me for 10million euros and sold me for 42."



And Silva believes his new club are destined for success, with help from other former Milan staff.



"Everyone spoke highly of Ancelotti. With him and Ibra (Zlatan Ibrahimovic), I have a little bit of Milan with me," he added.



"PSG sets up a very strong team, we'll see if we can win something quickly and go as far as possible Champions League. In this regard, I'd love to see my former partners (of Milan). And maybe beat them."

Thiago Silva signs for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Thiago Silva from AC Milan for a reported fee of 42million euros.



The Brazil international has signed a five-year contract with the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit.



A statement on PSG's website read: "Thiago Silva, 27, a Brazilian international, from AC Milan, has signed this Saturday with Paris Saint-Germain for five seasons."



A statement on the AC Milan website read: "AC Milan announces that it has sold Thiago Silva to PSG."



Thiago Silva's Milan team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been linked with a move to the Parisiens.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva Being Sold to PSG Admits Silvio Berlusconi

Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that AC Milan have accepted an offer from French side Paris Saint-Germain, believed to be around €65M, for duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.



The future of both players at the Serie A giants has been in doubt this summer and Berlusconi has finally decided to let the pair leave the San Siro outfit.



Thiago Silva was the first to be linked with PSG when the Ligue 1 outfit launched an audacious bid of €46M for the Brazilian. However, the Rossoneri management rejected the bid and the player signed a contract extension at the club to show his commitment, extending until 2017.



Then, it was Ibrahimovic’s turn to be linked with PSG when Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani released a statement regarding the striker’s future at the club saying ‘anything is possible’.



And just yesterday, PSG took their cue and made a €65M offer for the duo of Silva and Ibrahimovic.



It can now be confirmed that after some deliberation, the Rossoneri president has accepted the bid.



"Yes, I have decided to sell Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva”, announced the AC Milan president. “We will save 150 million euros over two years”, he added.



Now, all that remains is for the players to agree personal terms with the French outfit.



Sources have indicated that Brazilian Silva has already agreed contract terms with Les Parisiens, while Ibrahimovic and his agent are in talks and should be able to come to an agreement in the coming days.



The sale of the Swedish striker and the Brazilian defender will weaken the Italian giants considerably and it remains to be seen how the Rossoneri management reinvest the money they receive from the wealthy French club.

Thiago Silva to stay at AC Milan: Silvio Berlusconi

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has guaranteed he will not sell Brazilian international defender Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain.



The French club reportedly offered 50 million euros for the 27-year-old but Berlusconi has blocked the move, according to an official statement on the club's website Thursday, reported Xinhua.



"The president Silvio Berlusconi has decided: Thiago Silva will stay at Milan," the statement said.



Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the deal would not go ahead on its twitter page.



"The club has taken the decision to withdraw from negotiations with Thiago Silva," the message said.



Silva is currently spending time with his family in Rio de Janeiro after a series of international friendlies with Brazil.



Earlier in the week Italy striker and Silva's Milan teammate Antonio Cassano publicly voiced his disapproval of the Brazilian's transfer.



"Thiago Silva is irreplaceable. Without him we will lose 50 percent of the team. The club should forget about winning the Serie A or Champions League."

AC Milan Demand €65M from PSG for Thiago Silva

AC Milan have moved the goalposts over Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Silva bid, with sources in Italy suggesting the Rossoneri now want €65M for the Brazilian stopper.



The Italian club’s owner Silvio Berlusconi had admitted that PSG offered €46M for Silva – and that was a figure he simply could not refuse.



But in the face of a furious reaction from the Milan faithful, with whom Silva is extremely popular, Berlusconi has asked for more money.



This may make PSG consider withdrawing from the chase for the 27-year-old as Milan seek to claim the maximum amount to address financial problems at the club.



The departure of Silva would be a huge blow to the Rossoneri and the player himself is already thought to have come to an agreement on personal terms at the Parc des Princes.



Silva would earn €9M per year if he moved to the French capital.

Milan open to Thiago Silva sale

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani expects the negotiations in selling defender Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain to be arduous.

Galliani was in Paris yesterday to hold talks with PSG executives with a view to the Brazil international joining the French club.



Milan were adamant they would not sell Silva but are now tempted with reports PSG have reportedly increased their offer to 50million euros.



"It will be a long negotiation process with PSG," Galliani said to Gazzetta dello Sport.



The fact that Milan are considering Silva's possible departure has been met with criticism by the Rossoneri faithful.



"Silva is a player that you cannot substitute, regardless of the amount of money offered," AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano said.



"Thiago makes up 50% of the squad."



Former AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini would be surprised if the Rossoneri let Silva leave the San Siro this summer.



"Thiago's transfer is a sign of weakness," Maldini said. "He is the great defender there is in the world right now and Milan cannot do without him."



The 27-year-old Silva, who is also a reported target of Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona, is under contract with Milan until June 2016.
