Internacional sign Juan

Brazilian side Internacional have announced the signing of national team defender Juan on a free transfer after the player agreed the termination of his contract at Roma.

Juan, 33, has signed a two-year deal at Internacional, with the option to extend for a further year if successful.

The veteran defender joins Uruguay striker Diego Forlan in swapping Serie A for Internacional this summer, with the former Manchester United player joining the Porto Alegre based side last week.

After five years at Bayer Leverkusen, Juan joined Roma in 2007 and went on to make 144 appearances for the Italian giants.

An elegant defender, Juan also excelled in the colours of Brazil, making 75 appearances for the Selecao. He will now wear the No. 18 shirt at his new club.

£15.7m Oscar enquiry revealed

Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has revealed the club have received an enquiry over Oscar amid speculation linking him with Chelsea.

The Blues are thought to be edging Premier League rivals Tottenham in the race for the Brazil playmaker's signature, with his agent claiming earlier this week the European champions had tabled a 25million euros (£19.8million) bid for the 20-year-old.

However, Luigi has cooled such speculation.

The club president maintains they are yet to receive any concrete bids but has revealed an enquiry has been made over the availability of Oscar for 20million euros (£15.7million).

Luigi was unimpressed by the proposal, telling Radio Gaucha: "We received an email today, but it's a long way off being done.

"The proposal wasn't as good as expected. We think Oscar is worth more than 20million euros.

"It wasn't an offer; it was more like an enquiry. We are only saying that the numbers have to change."

Oscar, capped six times for his country, is regarded as one of the best young talents in Brazil and he has been named in their Olympics squad.

The playmaker has impressed since joining Internacional from Sao Paolo two years ago.

Oscar says no to Spurs

Internacional midfielder Oscar has ruled out the possibility of joining Tottenham.

New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was believed to have identified the Brazil international as a replacement for Luka Modric, who is expected to leave for Real Madrid this summer.

The 20-year-old confirmed there had been contact from the north London club but says he has no interest in leaving his current club.

"Tottenham did contact my agent but I am focusing on Internacional," said the former Sao Paulo playmaker.

"That will always happen. I don't know if there was an official offer. But for those that are young and impress a bit, this is normal.

"I can't worry about this. I'm not thinking about leaving Internacional now."
