Gattuso signs for Sion

Former Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has agreed a two-year deal with FC Sion, the Swiss club announced.



The 34-year-old was released by AC Milan at the end of last season after 13 years at the Serie A club.



He had been linked with a return to former employer Rangers, but the uncertainty surrounding its future prompted Gattuso to look elsewhere.



Sion announced the player's arrival on its official website, presenting him at a press conference on Friday afternoon.



Gattuso twice won the Serie A title with Milan, as well as two UEFA Champions League trophies. He was also a member of Italy's FIFA World Cup winning squad in 2006.

Galatasaray close in on Gattuso

Galatasaray are on the verge of signing former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso on a free transfer.



Head coach Fatih Terim is desperate to add some more experience to his squad ahead of the 2012-13 campaign, and the former Milan trainer sees the 34-year-old Gattuso as the ideal addition to his midfield.



Gattuso is available on a free transfer after leaving San Siro this off-season, and has previously been linked with a return to Scottish Premier League side Rangers.



However, he is now set to join the Istanbul club instead after a move to the Scottish powerhouse fell through due to the ongoing financial problems at Ibrox.



Galatasaray have reportedly reached an agreement with Gattuso for a one-year deal worth 1.5 million euros, and the holding midfielder is expected to travel to Turkey shortly to complete the move.
