Lavezzi plays Playstation with the mob

Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi has admitted that he used to socialise with members of the mafia whilst he was at Napoli.

The 27-year-old was speaking in court at the trial of Antonio Lo Russo, whose father Salvatore was the chief of the mafia group the Clan Lo Rosso, and he revealed that he used to play video games with the accused as he was used to interacting with fans during his days playing for Estudiantes and San Lorenzo.

"I knew him as one of the Napoli fans and sometimes he even came to my house," he told the court when questioned by the prosecutor Sergio Amato.

"I did not find anything strange because in Argentina it is common for players to deal with the fans.

"We even played the Playstation together, and if I remember, I saw him in the stadium."

The Argentina international was also questioned regarding his relationship with another member of the group, Marco Iorio, but he claimed he only gave him some of his valuables when he was playing away from home for security.

"When I had to play in another city, for safety, I let him have some valuables like watches."

Lavezzi set for paris match

Ezequiel Lavezzi claims his arrival at Paris St Germain is now "a mere formality" as he waits to conclude a summer move from Napoli.

The Argentina international has been linked with a big-money exit from Italian football for some time, with Europe's richest clubs prepared to dig deep in an effort to acquire his services.

Few sides could afford to lure him away from Naples, but PSG boast the kind of spending power required to secure the best in the business.

Lavezzi was understood to feature prominently on the shopping lists of Premier League clubs this summer, while ambitious Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala were also believed to be in the running for his signature.

It is, however, looking increasingly likely that he will be turning out in France next season.

The 27-year-old, who has spent the last five years in Serie A, says a deal with PSG is almost done and he expects a transfer to be pushed through in the next few days.

"I have not yet signed for PSG," Lavezzi told canal-supporters.com. "We have to set a date, but it is a mere formality."

PSG close in on Napoli's Lavezzi

Sporting director Leonardo has hinted Paris Saint-Germain are set to complete the signing of Napoli attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi next week.

The Argentina international has been strongly linked with a move away from Naples this summer, with PSG, Manchester City and Inter Milan among the reported clubs chasing him.

The French giants are favourites to land the 27-year-old having made a reported €25m to Napoli to acquire his services.

"With regards to Lavezzi, I think everything will be postponed until next week," Leonardo said to Sky Italia. "We have not yet completed the deal.

"Will he be unveiled to the media next week? We shall see."

Lavezzi is under contract with Napoli until June 2015 and has a release clause of £26.8million.

Reports claim PSG have offered Lavezzi a five-year contract and a salary of €5m per season.
