Azim Premji is the Indian Billionaire and a Business Tycoon. His Estimated Net Worth is US $ 17.5 Billion according to Forbes 2010 making him India’s second richest person after the chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani.

Azim Premji was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1945 and currently living in Bangalore, India. His father also was a business tycoon who founded WIPRO Limited as a vegetable oil and fats company. Later on Premji joined the group and under his leadership, the group diversified from soaps to Technology.

In 1980s, he founded WIPRO Technologies and taken it to the public. Finance gurus say that, if you had invested Rs.10,000 in 1983 to buy shares of WIPRO Technologies than today in 2010, it would be worth of Rs.300 crores…!!!

This is a true thing. After 1983, WIPRO Technologies grew a multi-billion dollar software company.

Azim Premji also set up Azim Premji Foundation for charitable activities and to serve the society better.

large percentage of the company’s revenues are generated by the IT division. Wipro works with leading global companies, such as Alcatel, Nokia, Cisco and Nortel and has a joint venture in Medical Systems with General Electric company.

Azim Premji owns 74% stake in WIPRO Technologies and the large chunk of revenue of his entire group mainly comes from this single business.
