Intellect means mind and intellectual means mind work. And Intellectual properties or IP Assets means products born at the end of mind’s labour. There are basically 2 types of work – Physical & Mental (Mind work).
The Examples of IP Assets are Literature, Invention, Art, Poems, Sound, Music, Sketches, Patents, Copyrights, Novel, Books, Articles, ….etc…
The world famous Mickey Mouse Cartoon is an Intellectual Property of Walt Disney. Windows XP, Vista & MS-office are the intellectual properties of Microsoft corporation. Google & Facebook Trademarks are the Intellectual properties of its owners. The famous paintings “Mona Lisa” & “The Last Supper” are the IP Assets of Leonardo da Vinci. Novels, Books, articles & literatures are the IP Assets of its respective authors. Music is the IP Asset of its singer & composer and so on and on and on…..
These are just the few examples. There are lots of more. This Blog is my Intellectual Property.
Owning an IP Asset is exactly same like owning any other asset such as Home, Stocks, Bonds, Gold, Real Estate, Businesses or any other assets. IP Assets can provide you a Passive Income as well as appreciate in its price over the time also. You can sell your IP Assets just like any other assets also and make financial profits also.
Say for Example, I can sell this Blog for a profit also. Recently, I have advised one of my friend to launch a website of all of his intellectual work. Remember, A Single piece of Article or any other IP Asset is not that much worth financially but a large collection of IP Assets (Such as Collection of 2000 articles..etc..) is the Power to generate tremendous wealth.
Say for Example, just 1 year before, when I had started this blog, i posted my first post in March 2008. At that time, this Blog was not worth this much and not generating any Income from Google AdSense for me. But Today this Blog has 2000+ articles and it is generating healthy Income for me every month….!!!!
Authors make Royalties from their IP Assets. Getting Royalties is like getting a Rental Income on your Residential or Commercial Property. In short, Understand the IP Assets and try to create them. IP Assets are the great financial opportunities….!!!!
